Vast forests and beautiful lakes and rivers make Sweden the perfect destination for canoeing enthusiasts. You could be forgiven for thinking that Swedens landscape had been designed for outdoor adventure. With its thousands of beautiful lakes and areas of vast wilderness, Sweden can best be described as a paradise for those who love outdoor pursuits, canoeing in particular. There are many camping and canoeing excursions available in all areas of Sweden, each tour individual in terms of landscape, beauty and activities undertaken along the way. Most routes start in the rivers and pass through lakes, tributaries and sometimes even dry land. Most canoes carry two people but single ones are also available.

Rogen, in the north west of Sweden is a remote area and best suited to those who are already experienced in outdoor activities. The ideal holiday destination for travellers who prefer a bit of quiet Rogens remote nature will certainly guarentee a bit of peace and quiet. For a family trip Klaralven river is a very good choice. With its small, idyllic little villagtes dotted along the river, it’s the prefect location for family stop offs en route. Visitors can visit various different locations along the way and enjoy the shopping facilites as well as the fishing.

For a journey through the beautiful wilderness make a journey which starts in Swedens rivers and finishes in the lakes, Svartalven is the ideal destination for this journey of wild, unspoilt beauty. Make sure you dont get lost though, maps are absoloutely essential for this tour.

Dalsland is the Lake District located in the west of Sweden. Lake Store Lee is located in Dalsland, a beautiful waterway with water so clean and pure that it is safe to drink! The tour of this waterway starts in Ed and tour guides are also avaialbe to ensure the best experience. This area is home to many breeding birds and although visitors are asked kindly asked not to disturb their habitats, many can be seen around and about the area.

Ten kilometres north of Lake Stora Lee is the Norwegian border which divides the lake in half. The journey from beginning to end takes approximately a week and passes through several beautiful little villages along the way. The journey will take visitors through Lake Foxen which has the added interest of little beautiful isles. You will go through Lennartsfors which is the third biggest loch in the canal. Further along the route is Lake Lelangen which has several fjords similar to those found in Norway. Take time to visit the village of Bengtsfors which is famous for its straw products.
